An expose by the Daily Nation has claimed that Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwendwa was paid Ksh50, 000 daily during Afcon.
This amount is said to be the highest allowance that any senior government officials receive while on duty.
His deputy, Doris Petra, was paid Ksh45,000 daily, while each of the eight National Executive Committee (NEC) members who traveled for Afcon was rewarded with Ksh40, 000 for every night spent.

In the expose, Mr Mwendwa is also alleged to have ferried dozens of his staff, including his personal assistant, to watch the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Officials who went to Cairo are NEC members Chris Amimo, Joseph Andere, Muriithi Nabea and Tony Kweya and Nairobi East Branch Chairman Michael Ouma.
Others include Mwendwa’s personal assistant (PA) Sylvia Mumbua, Muthomi’s PA Juliet Nyambura, Frank Ogolla, the federation’s head of competitions, and finance director Christine Ojode.
For the 13 days that Harambee Stars were in Cairo, FKF is said to have spent almost Ksh5 million to pay its staff, most of whom had no role to play in Egypt.
He is also pressed to account for an Outside Broadcasting Van the federation bought with funds from world governing body Fifa to the tune of Ksh135 million.
Mwendwa and his team have been put to task to account for Ksh244 million received from the government to prepare Harambee Stars for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt earlier this year.
Former Harambee Stars defender George Owino Audi is at the center of a damning FIFA investigation report over alleged match-fixing.
FIIFA is investigating former Harambee Stars defender George Owino for alleged conspiring to manipulate and influence the results of international matches involving Kenya with high-profile international match-fixer Wilson Raj Perumal between June 2009 and 2011 to throw away Harambee Stars’ matches.
Details of the 14 fixed matches, mentioned in a 10-page preliminary investigation report, are currently in possession of the Fifa Integrity Department.
Owino was also part of a conspiracy to approach and recruit several Kenya national team players for match manipulation purposes, with the intricacies of the scandal discovered in 177 emails between the player and Perumal.
“The purpose I’m going to bring you there is for business, but you have to remain loyal to me only. Remain free. Salary each month is Ksh3 million. If I say loose, you do as I say, or else you won’t see your salary,” read an email sent to Owino before joining an Australian club.
“Fine, no problem, because even I want a good life for my family, so I will do as you say,” the defender replied.
The 2010 Fifa World Cup qualifier between Kenya and Tunisia, played on October 11, 2009, is among those said to have been manipulated.
“I want you to put a good fight for 25 minutes and concede one goal in the first half from 30-45 minutes, another at the 65th minute, and the third in the 80th,” read another email.
The mail was addressed to two other Kenya national team players named as Julius and Pascal. Owino was to receive Sh2.5 million if he swayed the match as asked.
Perumal offered also offered Ksh6 million for Kenya to lose its fixtures in Nile Basin Tournament in Egypt in 2011.The player, who left Mathare United in December last year, claimed he knew nothing about the investigations.
“Let’s wait for Fifa to call me over the same then I can speak. For now, I do not know anything. I am hearing it from you for the first time,” he remarked.
The former Mathare United captain is said to have fixed up to fourteen matches with a promise of joining a team in Australia
Kenyan giants Gor Mahia have landed a tough looking Pool D in the CAF Confederations Cup draws for group matches conducted Monday in Cairo.
The Kenyan glamour club will square it out with Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek, NA Hussein Dey of Algeria and Atletico Petroleos of Angola in the group matches — to be played on home and away basis, with the top two finishers earning a slot to the quarter finals.
Gor begin their group campaign at home against Zamalek on February 3, before travelling to Luanda, Angola to face Atletico on February 13.
Their third group game will see them host Hussein Dey of Algeria on February 24, before completing the double header on March 3.
K’Ogalo will then travel to north Africa for a re-match with Zamalek on March 10, before winding their group matches a week later on March 17, with a decisive home assignment with Petro Atletico
The quarter-final draws are penciled for March 20, with teams who make it to this stage earning some Ksh. 35 million.
Zamalek, who are familiar opponents with Gor, having locked horns in the past, have clinched the title once in 2000 while also winning the CAF Champions League five times, the last one being in 2002 when the latter downed Morocco’s Raja Casablanca, while Petro Atlético is best known locally for having been employers of Allan Wanga, who turned out for them between 2008 to 2010.

Zamalek have also won the Egyptian Premier League 12 times, their last conquest coming in the 2014-2015 season.
On the other hand, NA Hussein Dey participates in the Algerian Ligue 1, clinching the title just once in 1967 and are also five times runners-up in 1964, 1973, 1976, 1982, and 1993.
They will be making their second appearance in the tournament after making their debut in 2006 where they failed to make it through to the group stages.
Dey are currently placed eighth in the league standings for the 2018-19 season with 23 points from 17 matches.
They qualified for CAF Confederations Cup by finishing third in their local league in the 2017-18 season.
A Ghanaian undercover journalist who helped expose corruption in African football has been shot dead in the capital Accra, police said Thursday.
Ahmed Husein was part of a team led by award-winning journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, whose probe led to the resignation of the head of the Ghana Football Association.
Dozens of football referees and officials were also banned.
A police spokesperson said the journalist was shot in the neck and the chest by unknown gunmen on his way home on Wednesday night.
Confirming the incident, Anas tweeted: “Sad news, but we shall not be silenced. Rest in peace, Ahmed.”
Prior to his death, Husein had made a complaint to police after his pictures were published on national television.
Ghana’s national media regulator condemned the killing and called on the police to conduct a thorough investigation.
“It will be in the national interest to arrest the perpetrators of this crime,” the commission’s chairman Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo said in a statement.
Ghanaian journalists condemned the killing of the 34-year-old reporter, who was instrumental in the international football corruption investigation which broke last year.
Football’s world governing body FIFA last October banned former Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi for life and fined him nearly $500,000 after he was seen on camera accepting bribes.
Nyantakyi was accused of requesting $11 million to secure government contracts.
Eight referees and assistant referees were banned for life while 53 officials were subject to 10-year bans. Fourteen officials were exonerated.
The revelations rocked Ghana, where football is the national sport and which prides itself as being a stable democracy in an often turbulent region.
Manchester United have sacked Jose Mourinho as manager after two and a half years in charge at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese, 55, guided United to League Cup and Europa League titles.
But they are sixth in the Premier League, 19 points behind leaders Liverpool, who beat them 3-1 on Sunday.
Mourinho was chauffeured into the training ground, but did not take the session like usual
Jose Mourinho arrives at Carrington on Tuesday morning before being sacked by the club
“A caretaker-manager will be appointed until the end of the season while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager,” United said in a statement.
“The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future.”
The caretaker-manager to replace Mourinho, who took over from Louis van Gaal in May 2016, will not be assistant coach Michael Carrick or academy boss Nicky Butt.
The candidate will be drawn from outside the club, but will not be former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
In two full seasons at Old Trafford, Mourinho won the Europa League and League Cup (2016-17) before finishing second in the Premier League last season and reaching the FA Cup final. In that period since replacing Louis van Gaal, United’s spending stands at £364.3m on eight buys.
