Chief Inspector Monica Wambui Githaiga, from Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) and the lead investigator during the Dusit D2 terrorist on Saturday collapsed and died at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) minutes after arriving from Japan.
Ms Githaiga had gone to Japan for a short course and arrived at the airport after connecting through Dubai and Addis Ababa aboard Ethiopian Airlines.
Reports from credible sources indicated that Wambui had earlier on complained of chest pains dizziness while in Dubai, where she was treated and allowed to board the flight back home.
She was unfortunately pronounced dead upon arrival at a clinic located within the airport.
It was not immediately clear what caused her death and an autopsy has been scheduled to shed light on the untimely death of the officer.
